Prevention of diabetes mellitus

Nowadays, diabetes mellitus is one of the most common diseases. Many modern people know how dangerous complications of diabetes mellitus can be. That is why the topic of prevention of diabetes mellitus is quite relevant today.

As for insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (first) type, there is no prevention of this disease. This means that the patient could not do something or, conversely, not do something to avoid the onset of diabetes.

If there are people in the family who suffer from insulin-dependent diabetes, then it is advisable to especially carefully monitor the health and its prevention among the younger members. Children should be tempered, since colds are much more difficult and often bother those children and adolescents who have a weakened immune system. At the same time, do not forget that even a hardened child can develop diabetes mellitus, it is just that the probability of this will be much lower than that of an unhardened child. Breastfeeding also has a beneficial effect on the immunity of children.

Prevention of type 2 diabetes mellitus is possible. If one of the parents had obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, then such a person should be especially careful to control his weight and prevent the development of obesity. In this case, the likelihood of developing diabetes decreases.

Many patients with type II diabetes mellitus believe that if their relatives in adulthood suffered from diabetes mellitus, then they also cannot avoid this fate. This judgment is wrong. Many people whose parents were sick with type 2 diabetes mellitus in adulthood do not suffer from this disease due to the maintenance of normal body weight.
